Cat of the Week

Meet Carolina! She is a two-year old beautiful brown tabby Maine Coon. When she arrived at Downey Animal Shelter, she had a broken front leg so it was amputated. Now her foster mom calls her a tripod! She is still truly the most loving kitty around and would sit on your lap for hours if you let her! She is still getting used to getting around on three legs, but she improves every day. Although she can't quite jump up on your lap, she'll always beg you to pick her up and let her spend the day there!

Come meet Carolina this Saturday at Petco Mission Viejo or learn more about her on Petfinder! The first five people who stop by and ask about our Cat of the Week get a prize!

          Kitten Fosters Needed NOW!

Urgent: As we partner with the Anaheim Fix Project, we are encountering more and more kittens born to feral mothers. As the mothers are trapped, spayed and returned to their community habitat, we are facing a limited window of time to begin socializing these wonderful babies. Please CONTACT US NOW if you are interested in fostering kittens and we can end the cycle o suffering of the  Anaheim community cats!

Of course being in a loving foster home is a huge benefit to our cats, but did you know there are several benefits to being a foster owner, too? Any and all expenses (including gas used driving to adoption events!) are tax deductible, and we pay all the vet bills! The rescue work we do is directly linked to how many foster homes that we have. Right now we are desperately seeking foster homes. This consists of keeping rescued cats and/or kittens  in your home until they find their forever home. We have several pets that need fosters.

You can specify particular preferences (kittens/special needs/ willing to medicate/willing to isolate/etc). We get many calls requesting us to take in strays or owner surrendered pets and even though we would love to be able to accommodate everybody we are only able to help those for which we have foster homes. For this reason you would literally be saving lives by  fostering pets in need. We will guide you through the basics if you have never fostered before and even if you have we will always be available to answer questions and assist in the transition to the foster home. Please email us if you are interested in fostering.

Rescue groups and shelters alike have some of the most beautiful, hearty, and exceptionally good natured cats and kittens!

Sadly they are getting passed by for more colorful kitties. Domestic shorthair black cats are being euthanized in shelters more then any other cat and rescue groups find them the most difficult to place into safe and loving homes.

This is sad and heartbreaking because BLACK CATS are extremely intelligent, affectionate and lack many of the health problems associated with other breeds.

Please consider adopting one of these wonderful bundles of personalities and fun. Give them a chance to touch your heart and bring some love into your life! Call people who have black cats and hear their testimonies! We can assure you - you will have a "Change of Heart".
